Microwave Wideband SMA Wilkinson Power Dividers/Combiners/Splitters
High Frequency multioctave broadband: 2-way, 3-way, 4-way, 6-way, 8-way
Wilkinson Microwave Power Splitters Wideband Coaxial 0 degree phase
SigaTek offers a wide selection of power dividers combiners that cover the frequencies ranging from 0.5 to 60 Ghz, as well as different combinations of outputs. These Wilkinson wideband power dividers combiners are used to divide a signal to many outputs which have the same phase and amplitude, whereas the combiner is used to combine many outputs to a common input; assuming all outputs are coherent (same phase and amplitude). SigaTek product selection includes splitters with splitting ratio of 1:2, 1:3, 1:4, 1:6, 1:8, and 1:12 ways. A divider cannot be used directly as a combiner without taking into consideration the power needed to be combined due to the power handling limitations of the internal isolation resistors of the device.
SigaTek power dividers are designed using microstrip or stripline techniques. Octave bands and multioctave band designs are available. For example different bands for these devices are 0.5-1 Ghz, 1-2 Ghz, 2-4 Ghz, 4-8 Ghz. These devices are designed using ¼ wavelength sections with different characteristic impedance which are connected in series to form a transmission line matching the input to the outputs of the device. For an octave band 2 to 3 sections are required. The length of the ¼ wavelength sections is equivalent to the geometric center frequency of the band of operation.
Multi-octave designs are available to cover frequency bands 5-18 Ghz, 1-4 Ghz, 2-8 Ghz, 2-18 Ghz, 0.5-8 Ghz, 0.5-18 Ghz, 1-27 Ghz, that use SMA connectors and 4-40 Ghz, 8-60 Ghz that use 2.92mm, 2.4mm and 1.85mm connectors. To achieve these wide bands many ¼ wavelength sections must be used. For example a device covering 0.5-18 Ghz needs up to 30 of these ¼ wavelength sections. Optimization of these devices is always needed to meet and exceed catalog specifications. Selection of dielectric material is a very critical choice, building these devices. SigaTek uses PTFE material with very low dielectric loss. Designs are always optimized to compensate for unwanted tolerances. Some of the characteristics of these designs are low loss, high isolation, excellent return loss and good phase match. Coaxial connectors SMA, 2.92mm, 2.4mm, 1.85mm based on the frequency of operation are used in combination with aluminum housings to complete the assembly of the final product.
